American Canoe Association
Founded in 1880, The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport recreation. Through an extensive, multi year research process, the Board of
Directors has declared the ACA's Strategic Tenets. These represent the
core foundation of the organization and will guide the ACA into the
future. The heart of the ACA is the people who paddle, cherish and protect the waterways of America. The ACA is a member based organization composed of those who enjoy recreating on and protecting America's wonderful and diverse waterways.

Introduction to Paddling, 1st ed
American Canoe Association
Written by the American Canoe Association and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Introduction to Paddling is an easy-to-understand guide to flatwater and river paddling. Based on an earlier work by the Ohio DNR, Flat-water Paddler, this amply illustrated book tells beginning paddlers everything they need to know, from appropriate clothing to the parts of the boat, from correct strokes to proper safety concerns. Good for instructors and those who like to teach themselves, this book is an important resource for those who like to paddle or want to start.
