60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Cincinnati is one book that covers the best and sometimes the least-well-known hiking destinations within 60 miles of the greater Cincinnati area. The hikes were selected based on family friendliness, scenery, and history. Many of the hikes fall between 3 to 5 miles in length, which provides parents with a relaxing and revitalizing hike even little ones can enjoy. This isn’t a bunch of poppy-cock either. Author Tammy York hiked most of the trails with her two young daughters. 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Cincinnati was created with other parents and newbie hikers in mind, while also providing challenging hikes for skilled hikers.

With this guide, hikers will discover many of the local hidden hiking treasures that are in or near Cincinnati. Places such as Caldwell Nature Preserve, Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, and Quiet Trails Nature Preserve offer incredible views, ample wildlife and wildflowers, and a chance to get away from everything and enjoy the simple pleasure of nature. Trails in the guide cover Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, and range from easy to you-must-be-joking difficult. For example, Sharon Woods is an easy and accessible paved trail for most of the hike, but Clifty Falls State Park hike will challenge your ability to concentrate on crossing slippery and tippy rocks without falling into the stream.

About Tammy York
In the woods or a creek bed looking for fossils is where you can usually find Tammy York, if you are lucky and can keep up. York grew up exploring the woods near her grandparent’s home outside of Connersville, Indiana. Her passion for the outdoors and “goofing off” in the outdoors brought her to Purdue University where she graduated with a B.S. in Wildlife Management. She and her husband have climbed Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine and enjoy hiking with their daughters in state parks, wildlife areas, and forests in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. York is a trained and seasoned naturalist with over 16 years of field experience and worked with Indiana and Ohio Departments of Natural Resources before becoming a fulltime freelance copywriter specializing in nature, outdoor recreation, and the environment.
